"I have known Leah for over 14 years and can confidently say she is a compassionate and dedicated nurse. Her emotional intelligence, strength, and passion for patient care set her apart. When my elderly father faced unexplained health issues, Leah’s expertise helped us navigate complex medical decisions and gave us much-needed peace of mind. She takes the time to truly advocate for her patients, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and cared for. Anyone would be lucky to have Leah as their nurse advocate."

Leah Nolan, RN, BSN, CCRN, BCPA

I am a dedicated healthcare professional with over 15 years of experience in patient care, beginning my journey as a nursing assistant before earning my Bachelor of Science from University of Texas at Arlington in 2014 and becoming a Registered Nurse in the Neurosurgical, medical surgical and PCU units.

In 2019, I completed a rigorous Critical Care Fellowship and have since specialized in critical care, working in high-stakes environments such as the ICU, ER, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Most recently, as a float pool ICU nurse, I honed my expertise across Surgical Trauma, Medicine, Burn, and Neuro ICUs, navigating diverse and complex medical challenges and learning to build relationships on the fly. Much of my career has been spent at the famed Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where many of the most medically and socioeconomically complex patients in the country are cared for.

In 2022, I earned the prestigious Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification, recognizing my advanced knowledge and expertise in critical care nursing. This designation represents my commitment to excellence in caring for critically ill patients and ensuring the highest standards of practice.

Throughout my career, I’ve cultivated strong skills in communication, education, advocacy, and collaboration—bridging the gap between patients and providers to ensure the best outcomes. My dedication to empowering patients led me to achieve board certification as a Patient Advocate, a role in which I am now excited to serve independently.

When I'm not helping patients, I love spending time with my wonderful and supportive husband, two amazing children, and my rambunctious blue heeler, Oreo

Let me help you navigate the healthcare system with confidence and peace of mind.

Why Garnet?

Garnet stones have long been symbols of protection, courage, and guidance, making them a powerful representation of patient advocacy.

Historically, warriors wore garnets into battle, believing the stones shielded them from harm and gave them strength. Garnets were also seen as symbols of illumination and guidance, believed to bring clarity and understanding in dark or uncertain times. Additionally, garnets are associated with health and vitality, reflecting my mission to empower patients and promote their well-being

What is a Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA):

The Patient Advocate Certification Board (PACB) is the credentialing body for the profession. Independent Patient Advocates who have been certified by the PACB proudly display the BCPA credentials on their profile page. The Board works to manage and maintain a universally recognized certification for patient/health advocates; establish and maintain relevant knowledge domains, skills, ethical standards and best practices for advocates; collaborate with healthcare consumers to achieve patient and family centered care; establish professional development for certified advocates; and promote and professionalize patient advocacy.

While Board Certified Patient Advocates can have many backgrounds, choosing an Advocate with a medical background is the optimal partnership in healthcare.
